Welcome to the new blog for City Green!
Located in northern
New Jersey, City Green is a non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating
the establishment of urban farms and gardens to enrich the lives of inner city
residents, while cultivating education in public health, nutrition and the
environment.
Much has happened since the founding of City Green in 2004! We
have developed and implemented programs on community gardening and garden
education in communities and schools across Northern New Jersey, produced
thousands of pounds of food at our small scale organic urban farms, established
seasonal farm stands and roadside markets at food desert neighborhoods, presented
an abundance of workshops on nutrition and food justice, and formed strong
partnerships with local non-profit organizations, religious
institutions, schools, recreational facilities and community groups.
Through this blog, we hope to share fun and informative
posts about gardening, nutrition, public health, food justice, and the
environment. Furthermore, we will periodically feature stories about community
members, farmers, gardeners, educators, youth and passionate individuals who
contribute to the creation of sustainable urban communities, one seed at a
time.
Stay tuned for our next update and find us on Facebook,
Twitter and City Green Online.
